2023 New Year’s Resolutions

Tips to Keep Up with Your Resolutions

It’s 2023, the start of a brand new year. People are celebrating the New Year and even start making their New Year’s resolutions. However, these resolutions do not end up lasting because after the spirit of the new year is over, people tend to fall back into their old habits. However, this outcome does have to happen if you take the right steps to continue your resolutions and establish good habits. Here are five tips to help you stick to your resolutions.

  1. Be realistic.

Make sure to set attainable goals. Often, many people will set unattainable goals that they know they cannot achieve. You cannot achieve goals overnight! It is important to take your goals step by step. For example, instead of running a mile twice a week, you could run half a mile once a week and eventually build up into running a mile twice a week.

  1. Set small goals for yourself.

New Year’s resolutions are not going to resolve themselves! Make sure to plan with small steps. Remember that it’s better to set small goals rather than big ones. Small steps are easier to achieve. When you establish your good habits, it will become easier with time because it will become part of your routine.

  1. Track your progress.

Tracking your progress will help you hold yourself accountable. Whether you choose to record your progress digitally or on paper, it is effective either way because you are more likely to achieve your goals when you write them out.

  1. Reward yourself.

Rewarding yourself does not mean you can resort to your bad habits! However, you can celebrate by watching Netflix or going out for a fancy dinner with your friends or family.

  1. Be positive.

It’s important to stay positive so you will remain motivated! Remind yourself of the benefits. Think of how the positive outweighs the negative. By focusing on the positive, you will be more motivated to achieve your goals.
