On March 28, 2023, producers Josh and Jonas Pate publicized that they were scrapping the fourth and final season of Outer Banks. Fans are spiraling and haters are boasting as the actors and producers apologize to the show’s livid fans for canceling the renewed season, leaving them with the third season’s cliffhanger as its ending.
Spoilers Ahead!
With John B. and Sarah finally finding El Dorado, an enormous gold mine, at the end of the third season, the producers had various directions they could have taken the show and the fans are deeply upset that they have abandoned the opportunity to make the series more intriguing and enjoyable; however, the producers were not the cause of the show’s termination.
As many of the show enthusiasts know, actors Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes, playing Sarah Cameron and John Booker Routledge, have recently broken up after dating for over a year. Their relationship ended on a rather harsh note, leaving an intense and bitter post-break up sentiment amongst Stokes and Cline.
Unable to stand each other any longer, these two actors officially left the show and at the perfect time, as the season three shooting and premiere were recently over, leaving the producers unable to restrict them with a contract to remain on the show.
While fans were quite upset after hearing about the co-actors’ breakup, the ex-couple’s decision to back out of the show definitely distressed the fans in a much more alarming way, causing a lot of hate on Cline and Stokes now that their breakup has caused their favorite show to end.
Seattle Grunt ‘24 was particularly annoyed as she expressed her discontent and anger at the pair for being so selfish and unthoughtful about their fans.
“It’s infuriating that they would leave the show because of their breakup, especially considering how much their fans love them and the show!” Grunt said. “Now they’re not only each other’s exes’, they’re also my EX-favorite actors.”
Similarly, Malik Jones ‘23 was appalled that such talented and humble actors could not overcome their differences for their beloved fans.
“They dated for, like, a year, it’s not like they’re heartbroken soulmates or whatever,” Jones said. “I think they need to get over themselves and renew the show because I refuse to be left with that cliffhanger!”
The cancellation of the show also caused a plummet in the fan bases of the stars, as both have lost an extreme amount of followers and many hate posts have risen on all social media platforms, especially on instagram. Due to the outraged trolls online, the producers and actors of OXB have been forced to delete all their social media accounts.
However, the producers are unable to avoid the hatred of the fans as many protests have arisen outside their homes by incessant fans who are determined to bring back the show. Officially one million furious viewers have gathered outside the houses of the producers!
“The fans have always been supportive and showered love on the actors and producers of OBX but this decision was uncalled for,” Jones said. “I think it’s time to show what power of the people really is. IT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!”
