The year has come and gone. It feels like just yesterday since the first day of the school year. Every year, people have moments that stand out. Below, students shared their favorite moments from 2022-2023.
Will Ainsworth ’26
“Probably the 9th grade field day”
Why?
“It was fun to get everyone together.”
Whit Schoeffler ’26
“Making the school’s JV Golf team.”
Why?
“Cause it took a lot of work… and a lot of preparation because there were about 24 kids trying out for 2 teams and there was a lot of competition and… basically making the team and outperforming people, uh, makes me happy.”
Robert Hord ’25
“I really enjoyed all the football games and the cookouts. I mean, you just kinda, you just kinda lose it. It’s really fun.”
Why?
“Well, I mean, you just come out of here, just go crazy, watch a good football game, probably win, maybe lose, it just feels great.”
Anisa Suffren-Crumby ’25
“My highlight of the year was probably… field day and Experience the Arts Day because Experience the Arts Day was super cool because not only did I get to play in the orchestra with… a bunch of my friends and classmates, I also got to walk around with my friends, tie-dye shirts, you know, see different other people do arts that I didn’t even know were at Woodward, and… it was really nice and field day was really nice because of the egg toss and it got really messy and…it was a lot of fun.”
Maddie Tulloch ’26
“My highlight is… being the number 1 champion in golf of Woodward.”
Why?
“Because I didn’t start golf too long ago and it was great finding out that we are number 1 in our area and we’re going to state soon.”
Seth Jackson ’24
“Maybe PRing in the track meet. That was… really nice, that was a good experience.”
Why?
“Um, I mean… cause I worked hard for it in practice and I got it, so it was really fulfilling.”
Blake Feinstein ’25
“Probably the robotics competitions.”
Why?
“I got to be with my friends and it’s something that I’m passionate about.”
Berklee Goodman ’26
“I’d say probably hanging out with my friends, like, not just in school but outside of school.”
Why?
“Well, cause I just made so many, like, new friends this year and… they’re all, like, so amazing and… they, like, really care about… everyone so… we got to… hang out and do fun things.”
Brody Strong ’24
“My highlight of the year was probably the Woodward-Marist football game because I got to be with all my friends cheering on the War Eagles, and they got a win, and it was pretty fun.”
Peter Verrill ’26
“My highlight of the year is probably homecoming cause it was a new and fun experience for me and it’s something that I’ve never done before and, yeah, it was a fun night.”
Robert Hardy ’24
“My highlight of the year was probably making it to regionals of track this year, also senior night of football.”
Why?
“Well, because regionals, I set a goal for myself each year at track, so I wanted to advance as far as possible so that way I can prove to myself that I’ve improved since last year [and] I’ve proved to my coach that I deserve to be on the varsity track and field team. And for senior night of football, I really just enjoyed the atmosphere and the community aspect of school with everybody being in the stadium… it really felt like a party on campus.”
Keeley Chapman ’25
“Playing with the basketball team. I just liked playing this year.”
Why?
“It was my highlight of the year because I got to spend time with a lot of my friends and… travel, and just get closer and… have a good time.”
Drew Ulsh ’24
“My highlight of the year was lacrosse season this past spring.”
Why?
“I got to be with all my friends playing sports and I got to compete with other teams.”
Daniel McCall ’25
“My highlight of the school year was doing the school musical because I got to meet a lot of people. It was… a fun experience, and… it was my first musical.”
Aubrie Jackson ’26
“My highlight, I guess I would have to go with, uh, probably, being able to go to homecoming with my friends and that seemed pretty enjoyable. Yeah, that was really fun for me.”
Why?
“Well, because, I mean, I’ve gotten to be able to just interact with my friends and we can, like, dance, laugh, listen to music without having to worry about anything else.”
Reagan Gary ’26
“The orchestra… went on a trip to New York, I think that was my favorite thing.”
Why?
“We did a bunch of cool stuff and I was able to connect with the other people in orchestra.”
Danny Morrison ’25
“Probably just getting closer with… a lot of people that I didn’t really know too well before but started to get to know a lot better this year.”
Why?
“Because I think… in sophomore year, there [is] a lot of… school stress and a big thing is just, uh, managing that and I think the best way was to just talk with my friends and… get to know them better, but, like, to kind of have a more relaxed social life apart from… the school, which is way more stressful.”
Gali Nelson ’25
“Probably, hmm, being able to spend time with my friends in sports and outside of sports.”
Why?
“Um, because being able to hang out with friends is important to me, keeping that social aspect of life… and outside of school is very tied into softball, so there’s not a lot of time, so just being able to spend time with them is very important to me.”
