What Makes a Good Party?
Good music, food and vibes all contribute to what makes a party great, but the types of people at a party are just as important. Some people are extroverted and enjoy being at the center of all the dances and talking to everyone they know. Others may choose to stand back and watch the fun. Every archetype has a role to play, and this article will give you a peek into the types of people you can find at high school parties.
Type 1: The Life of the Party
Every plant needs water, every human needs oxygen and every party needs an extrovert. While most people need time before they feel comfortable getting on the dance floor or moving around, the “Life of the Party” is ready to turn up the second they arrive. Their infectious energy can be found at the center of every mosh pit, hyping up their friends or dancing themselves. Not to mention, they never seem to fear embarrassment, and this admirable trait can inspire others to forget it, too. Who cares if someone will see you trying to do the worm? Just have fun and enjoy. The “Life of the Party” understands this well, and this makes them a fundamental pillar of every good party.
Type 2: Friend of the World
We all have that one person that somehow knows everyone at a party. The “Friend of the World” has a connection with almost everyone at a social function, and they aren’t afraid to show it. This person can be found starting a new conversation every five seconds after they bump into a friend from practice, a classmate from their old school, or a person they met randomly somewhere and became friends with. Where and how they got to know all these people may be a mystery, but one thing you know for sure is that they’ll never forget to say hi.
PS: If you get stuck as the unfortunate friend they brought along, prepare for at least 30 minutes of awkwardly standing to the side as they talk to people. Sorry in advance.
Type 3: Phone Addict
The “Phone Addict” is a person who is more focused on snapping photos and making TikToks than the actual party. Many high schoolers have a natural inclination to want to post the highlights of a party to social media. But these people make it their mission to capture every minute of their experience on camera, even the minutes many of us would rather stayed buried. However, their existence isn’t all bad. While being asked to take a picture for the 20th time in a single night can get boring, you can rest assured that the whole world will know how good your party was. Even if people had a terrible time, the “Phone Addict” will make it seem like you held the party of the year.
Type 4: The Huddlers
The “Huddlers,” well, huddle. If you’ve ever been to a high school party you’ll have seen that one group of people that huddle together the entire party. They don’t dance. They don’t talk to other people. They just sit there in a group and occasionally whisper and look around. If you’re at a party, don’t be a “Huddler.” Go out and enjoy yourself!
Type 5: The Wallflower
Similar to the “Life of the Party,” the classic “Wallflower” party archetype has been around forever. The “Wallflower” may not get very involved in the party, but their observant nature ensures they won’t miss a single detail of the night. They can typically be found in the corner, possibly with some friends, chilling out and watching the party around them. Someone may become a “Wallflower” because they don’t know many people at the party, or they just prefer to stand back and watch, but it can’t be denied that this age old character is a staple of every party.
Type 6: The Ghost
Our final party type is the “Ghost.” This person appears one second, is gone the next, and then randomly appears again at the end of a party. No one knows where they run off to or what they leave to do. For paranoid friends, the ghost can be a stress-inducing character, but others may find their ability to disappear amusing. Despite how the “Ghost” will come and go, at the end of the night, they’ll always show up when you need them.
