It’s December, which means it’s time for exam season. Here are some tips to help you study as you prepare for your upcoming exams!
- Don’t wait until the last minute.
I know that this is a basic tip, but it still is important to keep yourself in check. Learning all of the material the night before will only bring you unnecessary stress. Be sure to start studying in advance, so you do not stress out the night before. Trust me, I’ve been there too many times. Be sure to review a little bit each night whether it’s a chapter or two each night. It is much easier to take it one step at a time.
2. Plan, plan, plan!
Studying for exams is undoubtedly stressful, especially if you don’t have a plan. I’d recommend writing down a checklist whether it’s a planner, a Google Doc or a notebook. Choose the best method for you. Once you write down a checklist, start planning which days and what times you want to dedicate to studying your subject.
3. Give yourself a break.
Remember breaks are very important! You cannot give your 100% if you are not at 100%. Plan to take time in your schedule to take a 5-10 minute break after studying. Eat a snack, walk or read a book.
4. Get plenty of sleep.
Sleep is vital. Don’t fall asleep studying. Prioritize your sleep schedule and make sure to get around 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
5. Go to tutorial.
Don’t forget to go to tutorial. Don’t be afraid to ask your teachers for help and ask them questions about concepts you don’t understand.
6. Don’t get distracted.
It is very easy to get distracted. In order to avoid this, you should activate the Do Not Disturb mode on both your phone and computer. This way, you will not check your notifications from any social media apps.
