Coffee House Hot Cocoa
10-ish min
4 servings
This recipe is simple to make and never fails. Measure with your heart, especially with the sugar <3.
Ingredients
½ cup white sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
⅓ cup boiling water
3 ½ cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
In a small saucepan, heat up the milk
While the milk is heating, whisk the sugar, cocoa powder and boiling water in a small bowl until smooth
Pour the chocolate sauce into the milk and stir until combined
Add the vanilla and salt
Heat it until very hot without boiling. Or boil it. Then take it off the heat
Serve warm. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can also invert this recipe: make the chocolate sauce in the pot, heat it, add the milk then heat it some more. I find it easier for the milk to be in the pot first to avoid splashing, especially with big batches like the ones I made for Coffee House. Also, this recipe is incredibly versatile: don’t worry about exact measurements since it comes out the same almost every time.
