The Melt: Melting Down The Music Notes*
By: Greta Vianna Sletteland, Trey Voegtlin – Recapped By: Trey Voegtlin
Welcome back to The Melt! Last week, we discussed all things music and the Grammys, and here is the recap. This year, Beyoncé took home Album of the Year (AOTY) with her newest addition to her discography, Cowboy Carter. With all of the strong nominees, it’s difficult to take home a unanimous win when you’re in the same categories as critically acclaimed projects such as BRAT – Charli xcx, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT – Billie Eilish, and Short N’ Sweet – Sabrina Carpenter. Although critics and social media users had a field day when their favorites lost, Beyoncé still delivered an admirable release of music, breaking the walls of genre, with the only fault being its lack of impact and promotion. Along with Beyoncé, Chappell Roan took home a big win with Best New Artist, delivering an iconic acceptance speech. Besides the main categories, the award show was completed with stunning performances with stars such as Charli xcx, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Shakira, Benson Boone, and Doechii. Moving to the future, we can expect new releases from artists such as Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga, and we have already been graced with releases from Alessia Cara, SZA, Drake, and The Weeknd. To finish this recap fresh, Kendrick Lamar delivered a sensational performance at the 2025 Super Bowl. Big names such as Samuel L. Jackson, Serena Williams, and SZA joined him. He continued on the Drake Disses, looking straight into the camera when singing his Grammy award-winning song, “Not Like Us,” and saying, “Say Drake.” This concludes our recap of last week’s episode of The Melt; tune in this week for yet another episode.
Sincerely,
