Welcome back to The Melt! This week, we discuss various topics, such as cosmetics, film, TikTok controversies, award shows and new upcoming music and film projects. First up, Rhode Cosmetics has officially announced that its products will now be available in all Sephora stores starting in late February. On the film front, as we are on the quick path to the 2025 Oscars, the BAFTA Awards took place on Saturday, Feb. 16, and has amped critics with their pics. Some of the winners this year were Best Actress: Mikey Madison – Anora, Best Supporting Actress: Zoe Saldana – Emilia Perez, Rising Star: David Jonsson – Alien: Romulus and Bonhoeffer, Best Actor: Adrien Brody – The Brutalist, and Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin – A Real Pain. Although we discussed our aggravation with the awards given to Emilia Perez, Conclave and The Brutalist took home the most awards, with four each. Leading into new movies, we discuss if we think Wicked, For Good, will take home more awards than Wicked: Part 1 will. Moving into the music we discussed last episode, we give our thoughts on Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet (Deluxe) and the current backlash for the Dolly Parton remix on “Please, Please, Please” along with the upcoming album from the newly engaged couple, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. This wraps up our second official recap of The Melt! Tune in next week for yet another episode!
Sincerely,
Trey Voegtlin, Greta Vianna Sletteland
*Editor’s Note: Dolly Parton is 79 years old (born Jan. 19, 1946), not in her eighties as stated above.
