Would you fly halfway across the world to go to school with the love of your life? It sounds crazy, right? Well, Kitty Song Covey, the female lead of the hit drama, “XO, Kitty,” decides to secretly apply to K.I.S.S, the Korean Independent School of Seoul, to hang out with her long-distance boyfriend, Dae Heon Kim. “XO, Kitty” is a very popular American teen rom-com that is known for incorporating many artistic and dramatic effects while maintaining its own individuality. “XO, Kitty” is a spin-off of the “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” franchise, which became an instant international sensation and received many awards. Both series are considered blends between K-Dramas and American rom-coms while embracing the realities and beauty of LGBTQ. The third season of “XO, Kitty” was recently released on Netflix on April 2, 2026, and it claimed the position of the #1 TV show title on Netflix within the first 24 hours. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good romantic drama with plenty of comedy, millions of complicated love triangles and constant emotional rollercoasters. Keep a tissue box ready!

To start with, “XO, Kitty” follows Kitty and her adventures from the beginning of her sophomore year to her senior year in high school which is where season three begins. At the beginning of the show, Kitty’s big move to Korea prompted many experiences that promoted her self-discovery. Kitty faced romantic woes, sexuality discoveries and different clues about her family lineage. Not only were there tropes such as forced proximity, friends-to-lovers and enemies-to-lovers, the first two seasons of “XO, Kitty” were always filled with suspense and major plot twists. Season 3 is no exception. At the end of Season 2, Kitty was confused about her relationship with Min-ho, who started as her enemy in Season 1, but eventually won her heart near the end of Season 2. Season 3 opens up with their senior year at K.I.S.S. when Kitty and Min-ho go public with their relationship while Kitty tries to balance her academic pressure along with family issues. While there are ups and downs, Kitty stays resilient through it all.

“XO, Kitty” gives you the pit feeling in your stomach when watching because you never know what’s gonna happen next. There are twists and turns, and the characters even make some dumb decisions to keep the plot going. For example, Season 3 starts off calm and enjoyable until we learn a lot of information about Kitty and Minho, along with their friend Q, who’s in a relationship with his boyfriend, Jin. Q ends up doing something he regrets with his past fling, Marius, and feels uncomfortable when Marius comes back to K.I.S.S.

That’s just one part of the chaos, though. There are different love triangles throughout the season, such as Q, Jin and Marius. While this isn’t exactly a love triangle, things with Kitty and Min-ho are complicated and messy and in my opinion, just adds to their slow burn trope overall and makes the show worth watching. Not only do we have those characters, but we have Yuri Han, another main character and Juliana, who have dated in the past, but broke up due to Yuri kissing Kitty and Kitty writing a “goodbye love letter” to Yuri. In Season 3, Juliana is with Praveena, another girl in the friend group, but realizes she still has feelings for Yuri. Praveena also realizes this, and when Juliana talks to her, she doesn’t take it to heart. Instead, Praveena accepts this and completely understands the change in feelings. Praveena’s character, in my opinion, is very mature and adds some sort of contrast to Kitty’s sort of chaotic personality.

While the 3rd season of “XO, Kitty” is heavily focused on drama, it also contains a fair share of character growth and self-discovery that ensures emotional value and depth. The viewer finds out that Kitty did not only come to Korea to be with her boyfriend. She also came to find out more about her mother’s side of the family who was from Korea. K.I.S.S., the school her mother had attended for a year as an exchange student, was her chance to make new connections and meet a new side of her life. Kitty’s exploration and desire to learn about her origins connect with many viewers who are still trying to find themselves. Other characters, such as Min-ho and Yuri, also experience huge character growth in this season. Min-ho is finally able to let go of his thirst for his dad’s approval and decides that he will do what he wants with his life and be with the girl he loves. At the end of the previous season, Yuri’s father’s company loses all its money and she has nothing. She went from a wealthy lifestyle to barely having money for school. However, with the help of her friends, she is able to reinvent herself and even start a new fashion line. She shows that money can’t buy happiness. True happiness comes from the people around you. The ones who you make your memories with. “XO, Kitty” is able to send all of these messages in one series. It is able to bring tears of joy, hide inner frustration and anger and show the power of lies and deceit. In the end, though, true love always comes out victorious. If you want a story that touches your heart and digs deep into the realities of life, then you won’t want to miss this.

Finally, if you love the show “Never Have I Ever,” you’d love “XO, Kitty.” The main characters in both shows share many similarities. Devi and Kitty are both impulsive decision makers and use their emotions when making difficult choices. They both also navigate around their family heritage throughout the show. Devi steps into her Indian-American identity while Kitty tries to find more about her mother’s Korean side. Shows like this also navigate around self-discovery, jealousy and even having multiple crushes at once. Another similar show is “My Life and the Walter Boys.” Considering Kitty’s big move, she and Jackie are in the same boat. While Jackie’s move isn’t voluntary, she still has to get accustomed to her new environment and deal with her feelings getting in the way, just like Kitty.

There is no doubt “XO Kitty” Season 3 is a 10/10. There is constant drama, a variety of love tropes, an emphasis on LGBTQ, comedy and even emotional emphasis and lessons that connect viewers to reality. Whether you are into romantic heart-stoppers, comedic dramas or heartfelt adventures, you get it all. Don’t miss out! You can watch it on Netflix right now. You won’t be disappointed. Give it a chance and remember, the worst case is that you waste an hour. Best case, you find a new favorite that’ll keep you waiting for more.
