College Football Playoff Teams Decided

By Shaw Gordon

This is only the second year that we have seen the College Football playoffs expand to 12 teams. The way it works is, the committee decides the four best teams; then they all get first-round byes. Then they decide the remaining eight teams’ positions. The major catch is that there must be 5 conference champion winners in the bracket. This year, the four teams that received byes were #1 Indiana, #2 Ohio State, #3 Georgia, and #4 Texas Tech. The first round matchups include #5 Oregon vs. #12 James Madison University, champs of the Sun Belt Conference. More matchups include #9 Alabama vs. #8 Oklahoma, #11 Tulane vs. #6 Ole Miss, and #7 Texas A&M vs. #10 Miami. While teams like JMU and Tulane snuck in, fans were surprised by the fact that the 3-loss team, Alabama, was still in, but how 10-win team Notre Dame, or ACC conference champs Duke, were left out. Even with all the changes and discombobulations, college football is still worth watching.
