Coffee House Hot Cocoa
10-ish min
4 servings
This recipe is simple to make and never fails. Measure with your heart, especially with the sugar <3.
Ingredients
- ½ cup white sugar
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
- ⅓ cup boiling water
- 3 ½ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- In a small saucepan, heat up the milk
- While the milk is heating, whisk the sugar, cocoa powder and boiling water in a small bowl until smooth
- Pour the chocolate sauce into the milk and stir until combined
- Add the vanilla and salt
- Heat it until very hot without boiling. Or boil it. Then take it off the heat
- Serve warm. Enjoy!
Notes:
You can also invert this recipe: make the chocolate sauce in the pot, heat it, add the milk then heat it some more. I find it easier for the milk to be in the pot first to avoid splashing, especially with big batches like the ones I made for Coffee House. Also, this recipe is incredibly versatile: don’t worry about exact measurements since it comes out the same almost every time.
