The 2022-2023 season is coming to an end for the Girls’ Varsity tennis team. They currently hold a record of 12-8 for their regular season and finished off their season strong by making it to quarter finals, which is farther than they have made it in previous years. Congratulations to the girls’ tennis team for making it to the Elite 8!
Shreya Hebbar ‘25, a sophomore on the Girls’ Varsity team, reflected on making it to the quarter-finals round with her teammates.
“I feel so amazing about making it into the quarter-finals,” Hebbar said. “I am incredibly proud of my teammates for getting us that far into state. Although I wish we could’ve gone farther, the Elite Eight was an incredible place to stop and I am so happy we made it there.”
She looks forward to making more memorable moments with her teammates next year.
“I’m so sad that the season ended,” Hebbar said. “I had so much fun this past semester, I couldn’t have asked for a better team. I can’t wait for the next season with these amazing, talented people.”
Hebbar feels bittersweet about the season coming to a close due to the close bonds she has formed with her teammates.
“I’ll miss the people the most,” Hebbar said. “We spent pretty much every day with each other, even some weekends, and honestly there wasn’t any other team I’d rather spend it with. We all got along and had so much fun together. I’ll miss our seniors, and I hope the dynamic is the same next year with those who return.”
She reminisces on a proud memory in which her teammate, Shanthi Bernard ‘24, secured a win in the first round of state playoffs.
“My proudest moment was during the first round of state when Shanthi won her match, resulting in us winning the round,” Hebbar said. “It was a nail biting match and it ended in a third set tiebreaker. It was crazy. She was the last person on the court and our whole team was watching. I was so proud of her, and our entire team for getting us through the round when she won.”
Camilla Robinson ‘24, a junior on the Girls’ Varsity team, is excited for the future of the tennis team.
“I don’t feel that upset because even though our seniors are gone and we didn’t make it as far as we wanted, we can build on what we have and be ready next year,” Robinson said.
Robinson is prideful in her fond memories of making it to the finals with the rest of her team during February.
“My proudest moment on the team was definitely during the Auburn tournament,” Robinson said. “I played singles and made it to the finals and had an amazing time with my friends and support team.”
